Background to the Trophies

Tom Taylor and Mike Pratt were two, very different, founding members of the Choir. Tom was a fine singer, great raconteur and always a focus of fun and laughter. Mike was Chairman for the first 13 years of the choir’s existence. His energy and commitment to the well being of the choir was unsurpassed.  In different ways they each hugely contributed to what the choir is today.

The trophies in their names, are presented annually, in the case of that named for Tom, to the member(s) with highest total attendance at practice and concert.

This year these were John Stevenson, Don Maltby and George Havery.

The Mike Pratt trophy is awarded to a member who has, over a period of years, in the opinion of surviving chairmen, contributed greatly to the well being of the Choir.

This year the award went to Brian Bull.

It is a healthy sign that each of the choir sections is represented by one of the four recipients this year.
